During preparation, players will have the ability to move their units around limited portions of the map, and change the directions they may be facing. There are three main phases of battle: pre-preparation, movement, and action phases. But for 60, I can't give it more than a 5.Combat in Triangle Strategy is similar to the battle mechanics of Fire Emblem, with players possessing control over multiple characters on a grid-based battlefield. The combat is fine, the story isn't really my favourite but it could be yours, and the spritework does look appealing if it's your thing. This game definitely received some love and it does scratch that grid based tactics game itch if that's what you're looking for. If you ever get this on sale for 15-30 then read this review as a 7.5.

paying 60 bucks 20 years later for basically a graphical update and a more expansive story just doesn't make sense considering what other studios are putting out on the Switch. Back then, in 2003, when the standards for games were a lot lower FFTA was a solid buy. The game looks like Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced with a bit more polish. This game doesn't hold a candle to those games. 60 bucks on a Switch nets you games like Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey and Fire Emblem: Three Houses. But anything above it, especially the 60 euro triple A game standard price tag, is just better spent elsewhere. Up to 20 bucks would be a good buy or even a steal. However, I like to use the price tag on a game as a benchmark for my expectations. However, I like to use the price tag on a game If you have an endless amount of money, this game is a fine addition to your Switch collection. Definitely worth a buy, but definitely not at full 60$ price tag. So it definitely drags the whole project down and inevitably this is a game that will quickly get traded in and in a year you will see copies of this for sale about 25-35 dollars because of the quality of those fatal flaws. I would almost say another year of development time would have benefitted this project but its not the technicals that are lacking, Someone should be fired for thinking the writing and voice acting was in any way acceptable. The mechanics and battles do make up for the terrible cliched and uninspired story once you actually get to them. 3.5/10 Summary: 6/10 If you can endure the horrendous voice acting and ball and chain pacing there is a true gem here. That is a MASSIVE commitment on the part of the player to slog through such poorly written and voice acted drek. Once it gets that out of the way and picks up the pace it becomes enjoyable but that is beyond the 10 hour mark. It takes far too much time trying to set up these three kingdoms and their strife at the expense of the player. In 7 hours of play there was all of 2 battle sequences.

Its too much like a JRPG pacing where it inexcusably takes like 2 hours worth of cut scenes before getting to any actual game play. It might be something you could overlook had it not been for how much narrative exposition went into the game. You would be better served to turn voice down to zero than listen to this because it is grating and really detracts from the game. Too many of the voice actors sound nearly identical making characters indistinguishable.

The voice actors all sound bored and disinterested. 3/10 Which brings to the worst element in the game Voice acting: Inexcusable. While it picks up later in the game its still very poorly written and expects a LOT of the player to endure completely unneeded linguistic flourishes that are strewn about haphazardly and add nothing to the plot but run time. Some can be quite challenging but for the most part hard but fair difficulty.9.5/10 Cons: Script: Written like a middle school fan fiction of the War of the Roses. The battles and systems are engaging without being overwhelming or impossible. 7.5/10 Mechanics: The games true sweet spot. 9/10 Music: As memorable and infectious as anything from Square. All in all its among the most pleasant to look at on switch. Pros: Gorgeous visuals, though they can at times be a tiny bit janky. All in all its among the most pleasant to look at on Actual review.
